Amarillo and Lubbock Wedding Venues: Sixteen Places on the High Plains, and the Biggest Sunsets in Texas

Sixteen wedding venues in Amarillo and Lubbock with Google ratings, from Garden of Dreams and Starlight Canyon to the historic Baker and Watson buildings downtown, plus ceremony start times for every month of 2027 on the Panhandle.

The Panhandle and the South Plains have the latest sunsets in Texas and the biggest skies, and a wedding here in June ends its ceremony at nine in full daylight. Amarillo and Lubbock are two hours apart, share the same light and the same weather, and each has a set of venues couples ask us about by name. Here they are, with the timeline numbers for both cities.

Computed for the 15th of each month in 2027. Amarillo is listed; Lubbock, two hours south, runs three to four minutes earlier in summer and later in winter.

A 9:03 PM June sunset is the latest on this site outside the far north. The practical effect is that a summer wedding here can start its ceremony at 6:30, run a full cocktail hour, and still have the couple outside for portraits at 8:30 in the best light of the year. The other effect is the sky itself. With no hills and no trees to speak of, the horizon is the whole picture, and a Panhandle sunset over a ranch venue does more for a portrait than any backdrop we could bring.

Wind is the caveat. It blows most afternoons in spring, and an outdoor ceremony in April needs a plan for the veil, the programs and the arbor.

Garden of Dreams is the venue couples search for most in Amarillo, a garden property on the northwest side with a 4.9 rating, and it is a good example of why the ceremony time matters here: a garden ceremony at 6:18 in June is in full sun with no shade tall enough to help, and we would move it to seven. Starlight Canyon carries the most reviews and the canyon-country setting that the rest of the flat Panhandle cannot offer. Cornerstone Ranch and Knotting Hill are the two ranch-style venues where the horizon does the work. All eight are on the Amarillo hub.

Lubbock's two most interesting venues are downtown: the Baker Building and the Watson Building, both restored early-twentieth-century commercial buildings a few blocks apart with the brick, the tall windows and the ceiling height that make an indoor reception look like a film set. Both need the fifteen-minute sunset walk planned, because downtown Lubbock does not give you the horizon; we have a spot. Kitalou Gin is the opposite, a restored cotton gin out in the fields with the whole sky behind it. The Lubbock hub has all eight with pricing.

What we would do

June at a ranch venue: ceremony at 7:00, cocktail hour with the sun still up, and the two of you out on the property at 8:30 for the last half hour of a sunset that fills the frame edge to edge. October: 4:30, and a first look at 2:30 to keep formals off the good light. A winter downtown Lubbock wedding: ceremony at 3:00, and the Baker Building's windows do the rest. The full tables are on our Amarillo and Lubbock pages, and every venue has its own page with our published pricing, which is the same at all of them.

Ratings and review counts are Google's as of our last check and will change. Sunset and golden-hour times are computed for the 15th of each month in 2027; an outdoor ceremony in open shade can run 20 to 30 minutes later than the start times we suggest.
