Couples book the Berkshires for October and then discover that an October Saturday has 11.1 hours of daylight. That is not a problem if the timeline knows it. It is a problem if the ceremony is set for four because that is when weddings start.
Our rule for an outdoor ceremony is simple: start it two hours and forty-five minutes before sunset. Vows take twenty to thirty minutes, family formals another thirty, and that leaves a portrait walk that lands in golden hour with the reception opening as the light goes. Move the ceremony later than that and portraits happen in the dark; earlier and you are photographing in flat, overhead light with the good hour wasted on cocktail hour.

The three fall months, worked out
September. Ceremony at 4:18 PM, golden hour from 6:26 PM, sunset at 7:03 PM. Still warm most years, the hills just starting to turn, and enough evening that cocktail hour can be outside. This is the easy month.
October. Ceremony at 3:26 PM, golden hour from 5:33 PM, sunset at 6:11 PM. Peak color in the southern Berkshires usually lands in the second or third week, a week earlier up toward Williamstown, and it moves with the year. The schedule that works: first look at 1:00, family formals at 1:30, ceremony at 3:00, and the portrait walk at 5:30 with the light coming through the trees sideways. Dinner is indoors by candlelight because it is dark by 6:39 PM, which is the look people wanted anyway.
November. Ceremony at 1:46 PM. After the clocks change, sunset is 4:31 PM and the trees are bare. It is the quietest month, the estates are empty, and the low sun through leafless maples is its own thing; we just need the ceremony before two.

The Mount in Lenox is the Edith Wharton estate and the reason half of these searches start; Miraval Berkshires, also in Lenox, is the resort version of the same hills. The Lakehouse Inn in Lee is on Laurel Lake and has the only true waterfront on the list. Gedney Farm in New Marlborough is the south-county barn, half an hour south and worth it. Bloom Meadows in Williamstown is the north-county meadow. And three of the eight, Valley View Farm, Quonquont Farm and Amongst the Oaks, are not in Berkshire County at all but east of the hills, twenty-five to thirty miles from Lenox; couples searching the Berkshires find them, and they are farms with real fields, so they stay on the list.
Every venue above has its own page with sunset at that exact address and pricing, and the Berkshires venue hub lists them all.

Ratings and review counts are Google's as of our last check and will change. Sunset and golden-hour times are computed for the 15th of each month in 2027; an outdoor ceremony in open shade can run 20-30 minutes later than the start times we suggest.
