Fredericksburg TX Wedding Venues and Ceremony Times by Month

Eight Fredericksburg, Texas wedding venues with Google ratings, the ceremony start time for every month of 2027, and how to plan around Hill Country heat.

Fredericksburg is the Hill Country wedding that people travel for. It sits roughly an hour and a half from both Austin and San Antonio, so most of your guests stay the weekend, and the town, the wineries along 290 and the ranch roads running out toward Crabapple and Willow City all become part of the day. The question we hear most is not which venue. It is what time. Here are the numbers.

The start-ceremony column is sunset minus two hours and forty-five minutes. That leaves room for vows, family formals and a portrait walk that lands in golden hour, with the reception opening as the light goes. Fredericksburg sits far enough west in the Central time zone that everything here runs about four minutes behind Austin, which sounds trivial until it is the four minutes you wanted for portraits.

Daylight only swings about four hours across the year, 14.1 hours in June against 10.2 in December, so a winter wedding here is far more workable than a winter wedding in New England. The jump between February and March is the clocks changing: a 3:38 February ceremony becomes a 4:58 March ceremony.

The heat, and the two good seasons

From June through August the table says start at 5:53, and that is close to the hottest hour of a Hill Country day, with the sun still well above open ranch land. Most of the venues out here are ranch properties, and open pasture does not offer much shade unless the ceremony site was built with it. Ask your venue which way the ceremony site faces and where the sun sits at your start time. If your guests would be looking into a western sun, we would rather move the ceremony to 7:00, do a first look at 4:30 somewhere air-conditioned, and keep portraits short and close to sunset.

Spring and fall are the reason couples marry here. April means a 5:17 ceremony in wildflower season; the Willow City Loop is one of the best-known bluebonnet drives in Texas, and it gets busy on spring weekends, so leave extra time if your guests are driving it. October means a 4:19 ceremony, milder evenings, and long low light across the hills. Both seasons book early for the same reason, so if you have a spring or fall Saturday in mind, start there.

Winter is underrated. A December ceremony at 2:51 sounds early, but with sunset at 5:36 and civil dusk at 6:03 you get a calm, cool afternoon and portraits in soft, even light.

Camp Hideaway has the most Google reviews on the list, and La Bonne Vie Ranch has the highest rating of the venues with more than a hundred. Three of the eight, The Lodge at Country Inn Cottages, Contigo Ranch and Swallows Eve, are on Lower Crabapple Road, the road that runs north out of town into the hills, so if you are comparing those three you can see them all in one afternoon.

Willow Sky Ranch is the outlier, out in Willow City on the Willow City Loop, with a perfect 5.0 on 41 reviews. If you are marrying in April, that address matters: it puts your guests on the wildflower drive, which is lovely, and on the wildflower traffic, which is less lovely. Crockett Haus is the only in-town address on the list, on North Crockett Street, and the choice for couples who want to stay close to Main Street rather than drive out to a ranch. The Ginger Ranch, on Middle Creek Road, rounds out the list.

We do not list guest capacity, amenities or lodging here because those are answers only the venue can give accurately. Ask them, then tell us, because the size of your guest list decides how long family formals take. The Fredericksburg venue hub has every venue with the sunset at that exact address.

What we would do

October. Ceremony at 4:15, family formals right after at the ceremony site, and the two of you out for portraits at 6:30, just as golden hour starts at 6:32. Sunset is 7:04, and the reception opens as the light goes.

April. Ceremony at 5:15, formals by 6:15, portraits from 7:30 until sunset at 8:02. If you want wildflowers in your portraits, tell us early and we will look for a safe spot near your venue rather than on the side of a busy road.

Summer. A first look at 4:30 indoors, ceremony at 7:00 with the sun lower, and a fifteen-minute portrait walk at 8:05 into the last light before the 8:38 sunset.

December. Ceremony at 2:45, portraits from 4:45, and the last frames at civil dusk around 6:00.

The full sunset table for town lives on our Fredericksburg page. For the wider region, our Hill Country venues compared post puts Fredericksburg next to Dripping Springs and Boerne with mileage from both cities, and the Austin venues post covers the city side. We offer photo, film, and photo and film together, travel is included in all 50 states, and our published pricing is the same at every venue above.

Elizabeth Scott is an independent wedding photography and film studio. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any venue named here; venue names identify where couples marry. Ratings and review counts are Google's as of our last check and will change. Sunset and golden-hour times are computed for the 15th of each month in 2027; an outdoor ceremony in open shade can run 20 to 30 minutes later than the start times we suggest.
